NHP identifies British Columbia man who died in motorcycle crash Monday near Tonopah
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a 68-year-old man from British Columbia who died Monday from injuries sustained in a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger car.
John Thomas Wright, a Burnaby, British Columbia resident, died at the scene of the crash, which happened Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 6, 15 miles west of Tonopah in Esmeralda County, said NHP Trooper Matthew McLaughlin.
Preliminary investigation shows that a gold 2010 Lexus sedan was traveling eastbound on US-6 towards Tonopah. A 1995 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling westbound on US-6, east of the Lexus sedan.
The driver of the Lexus entered the westbound travel lane to overtake another vehicle and did not observe the westbound motorcycle.
The driver of the Kawasaki motorcycle, Wright, attempted to avoid the collision, however died of injuries he sustained in the crash. The driver of the Lexus is cooperating with the investigation, said McLaughlin. Impairment is not suspected in this crash.
