Man taken into custody for causing disturbance on Carson City-bound RTC bus
A man was taken off a RTC bus in Washoe Valley this morning by Nevada Highway Patrol after he allegedly caused a disturbance and displayed a knife.
The bus, headed from Reno to Carson City, stopped near the Bellevue Road overpass after a man on board caused a disturbance. NHP officers were called to the scene and took the man into custody. The suspect's name has not been released.
The following is from a press release from NHP Public Information Officer Chuck Allen:
This morning at approximately 6:22 am, troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched to a call involving a Reno Transportation Commission or RTC bus that was stopped on the shoulder of southbound US 395 near the Bellevue Road interchange in Washoe Valley.
Troopers responding to the call were told that an unruly male subject had caused some sort of disturbance on the moving intercity bus that was inbound to Carson City from Reno. We were told that the subject had also displayed a knife. A NHP sergeant based in Carson City arrived on scene first followed by other troopers and deputies from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. The male subject was taken into custody without incident and detained.
After speaking with the bus driver and other passengers riding on the bus, it was determined that an assault had taken place on the bus. The subject was placed into a WCSO vehicle and transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility where he was booked by their agency.
