Trailer slams into house, Reno man dies
A 57-year-old Reno man was killed after a tractor trailer slammed into an unoccupied home on Highway 50 west of Fallon, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports this morning.
Larry D. Chance of Reno died from injuries after being transported to Churchill County Community Hospital in Fallon.
Troopers from the NHP were dispatched to the single vehicle accident at about 12:25 p.m. Thursday. A preliminary accident investigation details that a blue Peterbilt tractor and trailer Chance was driving was traveling west on the four-lane highway when it veered off of the roadway edge, the NHP reports. As it left the roadway surface, it continued traveling northwest on the dirt shoulder and struck the single story house adjacent to the roadway.
Chance, the sole occupant of the tractor trailer, was transported from the scene by ground ambulance and died shortly thereafter at Churchill County Community Hospital in Fallon. The home that was struck was unoccupied at the time of the accident.
