Carson City Fair announces cancellation for 2020, demolition derby still holding out hope
Due to COVID-19, the Carson City Fair has announced they will be cancelling this year’s event.
Their statement is as follows:
Sponsors, participants and friends of the Carson City Fair,
The Carson City Fair Board met April 21st to discuss the status of this event for 2020. Unfortunately, with the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 virus, we felt that we have no choice but to cancel this year’s event.
The Carson City Fair is put on entirely by volunteers. Each volunteer truly believes in the value of a traditional community fair. Although we are heartbroken, we are taking this opportunity to start planning for the Carson City Fair 2021!
The biggest contributor to the Carson City Fair is the Demolition Derby sponsored by Simerson Events. The derby is holding out hope that it will be allowed to proceed. All of the proceeds from this event are donated back to help fund the Carson City Fair.
Although we are uncertain, the Fair is exploring options for helping youth market livestock participants find buyers for their animals.
We'd like to thank all of our past and present sponsors for all your support and we ask that you continue to keep us in mind in the future!
Although our current world is scary and uncertain, we can always find things for which we can be thankful. I encourage you to find the silver lining, we are Nevadans after all.
Best wishes and see you next year,
Chelsy Simerson
