Submarinin' at The Tea Party.
On Tax Day it was my day off so I thought I'd go to the Tea Party in front of the Legislature to check out the scene. As a Progressive in my first Tea Party, I found it both exhiliarating and stomach turning. Despite my patchouli scented locks and my tie dyed hat, no one seemed to recognize me as "the enemy" so I browsed and schmoozed freely all over the area. Met 2 ex-coworkers there who were protesting with signs and I even got my picture taken with Govenor Gibbons! (I'll attach it here if I can.) He was real nice.
I was interviewed by Channel 4 and bought a button with a racist picture of Obama on it. The reporter from Channel 4 asked me for it during my interview, said he was going to show it to his supervisor for a possible story. He had me take him to the booth where I bought it and he asked the lady selling them, "Do you think this image is racist?" She said no and demanded the camerawoman turn off the camera immediately. Hoot!
When I became parched I went across the street by the Frikin' Fox and met a few Democrats with signs and made some new friends there. We mobbed down to Red's 357 for a bite. I went into Comma Coffe for the first time to get a drink and found it very charming, gotta go there again sometime.
All the anti-Democrat, anti-Obama and anti-Progressive signs were very hateful and immature. There was a man hauling around a sign on a dolly with 2 actual cow poopies attached to it referring to the Left and I got a picture of a dog's behind with the words "Hope" and "Change" scrawled on it with a marker. The "O" on the word hope was around the dog's anus. This is how the Tea Party folk seem to express themselves, with real bovine feces and a dog anus. I felt sorry for the dog being molested like that. Quite undignified.
As far as what I saw and heard I could have got the same show watching Pox News but I got a great picture with the Governor and made some new friends so it wasn't a complete bust. I had a good time. I encourage everyone, no matter what political flavor you are, to go to a Tea Party at least once to see for yourself what outrageous Neanderthals these people are and to make a few new friends. I know I had a blast!
