Carson City Humane Society: More than 50 adoptions since COVID-19 shut down
While many things have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 shut down, which has essentially ground our normal daily lives to a halt, one thing that it has affected positively have been homeless animals.
According to Sarah Goulart of the Nevada Humane Society, the shelter went to adoption by appointment only on March 20, and since then, over 50 animals have found their (hopefully) forever homes.
The animals who were adopted as of April 8 are as follows:
- 37 dogs
- 15 cats
- 1 rat
- 1 rabbit
“The community has really helped by donating food and blankets,” said Goulart. “The community has also been very helpful in getting 15 animals into emergency fostering.”
While people are stuck at home, fostering and adopting seems like a no-brainer. What better time is there to teach a new family member the lay of the land, how to pee outside, and even some fun new tricks?
Clearly Carson City has risen to the challenge of giving homeless animals a bright future.
