Carson City arrests: Man jailed for allegedly threatening neighbor with knife
A 29-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and a department of alternative sentencing violation, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.
Darron Beaumont was taken into custody at 1:09 a.m. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 1400 block of North Carson Street in reference to a subject brandishing a weapon. Dispatch advised there was a dispute between two neighbors where one neighbor threatened the other with a large knife.
Deputies interviewed the victim and witnesses and learned the suspect and victim were in an argument over a door that was slammed shut. The victim said she had taken her dog outside and returned and had to slam the door because the door was broken and would not close all the way, the report states.
The victim told deputies the suspect became upset because she had slammed the door. She said the suspect went inside his room and grabbed a large knife and exited the room and threatened her with the knife, saying he was going to kill as he held the knife over his head in an aggressive manner. The victim said she went back to her room and called 911.
Officers went to the room of the suspect and knocked on the door. Inside the room deputies located the man sitting on the bed next to a large knife. The man was uncooperative with verbal commands and was eventually placed into handcuffs.
Statements were made from other witnesses. Officers requested a search warrant and were granted one to collect the knife inside the residence, the report states.
A property manager arrived at the location and showed the deputies surveillance footage of the incident, where officers observed the victim exit her room with a dog. Deputies observed the suspect leaning on a railing and then exchanged words with the victim. The suspect then entered his room and exited with a knife in his hands. The man then took the knife out of its holster and held it over his head and yelled at the victim, according to the report.
The man was booked on charges of suspected felony assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor violation of department of alternative sentencing conditions. Bail: $20,500.
