Fight at Carson High School over parking issue ends with citations and suspensions
A fight that broke out around noon Wednesday at Carson High School over a parking dispute ended with suspensions and citations, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office and School Resource Officers responded at around noon Wednesday to a fight among students that started over a parking dispute. Sheriff Furlong said three School Resource Officers were on campus at the time, and two CCSO patrol units responded after a report of 30 to 40 students were possibly engaged in a fight.
As officers arrived on scene the fight had ended, with the situation lasting only around a minute or so from the initial call out. One student was sent to the nurses office for a hand injury. Carson City Fire Department wasn't called. Sheriff Furlong was on the scene supplemented by two CCSO patrol units.
"The fight was immediately dispersed, was quickly brought under control and students were sent back to classes," said Sheriff Furlong. "What we believe to be the alleged antagonists were taken to school authorities."
Nine citations were issued in lieu of arrests and some students have been suspended for 10 days, said Furlong.
Carson City School District spokesman Dan Davis confirmed the incident happened over a parking dispute.
