A Carson City man was arrested late Wednesday and faces felony drug charges after an officer found approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine stashed inside chewing tobacco can, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Arrested was Rodney Thomas Tinnes, 46. He faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling northbound with its rear license plate light not working. The deputy conducted a routine traffic stop at Fairview and Butti Way. Tinnes provided a current proof of insurance and an expired registration. The vehicle was checked through dispatch as having expired Jan. 21, 2015, the arrest report states.

The officer conducted a search of the vehicle before the tow. A stereo was missing and inside the area was a Copenhagen chewing tobacco can.
The can was turned upside down so that the black bottom would blend in with the black plastic, the arrest report states. Inside the can was a clear plastic sandwich baggie with methamphetamine, which was weighed later as four grams., the arrest report states.
Tinnes was walking away when the deputy caught up with him and placed him into custody without incident at 11:47 p.m. Bail: $22,500.
