Winter weather expected Saturday night through Sunday
After weeks of unseasonably warm weather in Carson City, Carson Valley and the Sierra, snow is back in the forecast, expected to arrive Saturday night and last through Sunday.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for the region, with several inches of snow expected for the Sierra and a dusting down around the valley floors, according to the National Weather Service and CarsonWeather.com.
In the Sierra, 5 to 10 inches of snow is expected with the system, which could impact driving along mountain passes. About 3 to 6 inches of snow is forecasted below 7,000 feet, with up to an inch or two on the valley floors. Light to moderate snow showers are expected throughout the day on Sunday with much colder conditions through next week.
