Make a Difference by Becoming a Nevada Veterans Advocate
Now is your chance to get involved, have some fun and make a difference. The Nevada Department of Veterans Services is hosting a free, two day workshop to help you become certified as a Nevada Veterans Advocate or NVA.
What is an NVA? Simply put it is a person that helps connect veterans and their families to benefits, resources and services earned through military service.
The workshop will help introduce, train and update anyone interested in becoming an NVA. You will learn the latest information about veteran's benefits such as Aid and Attendance, pensions, debt waivers, Military Sexual Trauma and more.
The workshop will be held at the Grand Sierra Resort, 2500 E. Second Street in Reno, Nevada on October 21-22nd. The location is in the Nevada Rooms on the Lower Level. The classes run from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. each day. Free continental breakfast and afternoon snacks provided each day. You are advised to pre-register by going to the link provided as space is limited: http://bit.ly/2f9kWGA. You may also register at the door on Saturday, beginning at 7:00 a.m.
For more information visit www.veterans.nv.gov or call 775-321-4708 or emailing masonr@veterans.nv.gov.
Upon completion of the program, you will receive a Nevada Veterans Advocate t-shirt and certificate. You will also be eligible to attend NDVS community outreach events and become part of the team.
