Douglas County Sheriff’s Candidate To Participate In Polar Plunge
Douglas County, March 14, 2018 - Captain Joe Duffy, Candidate for Sheriff of Douglas County, will be participating in the 2018 Polar Plunge - Thrill of the Chill - to benefit the Special Olympics of Northern California and Nevada.
The goal of this year’s event is to raise $146,000 “to help more than 24,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities succeed through sports.” Duffy will be participating alongside his wife and friends.
Duffy has a history of participating in athletic events for charity. He has also run for the Special Olympics Torch Run.
“I enjoy being part of positive events like this one because it raises awareness at a local level and will hopefully motivate people to get involved and support our local athletes,” Duffy said.
The Polar Plunge is one of many opportunities for the citizens of Douglas County to meet the candidate who hopes to make positive change.
“In life, it’s doing for others that is fulfilling. That is why I became a police officer in the first place, to help people,” Duffy said.
The event will be held March 17th, at 10 a.m. in Zephyr Cove.
