Carson City "40 Days For Life" Prayer Vigil Underway
Outside the new Planned Parenthood office on North Stewart Street, members of northern Nevada’s faith community are holding a silent prayer vigil as part of the 40 Days for Life campaign in the state capital. The vigil to end abortion will take place at the facility through April 1st on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, its current days of operation. While Planned Parenthood does not perform surgical abortions there, it provides abortifacient drugs to expecting mothers.
Participants in the prayer vigil have signed a Statement of Peace, by which they pledge not to impede anyone's access to Planned Parenthood, or trespass on its property. About 30 people turned out to begin the vigil on the evening of Wednesday, February 22.
About 40 Days for Life
40 Days for Life is an innovative pro-life project that includes 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history where God brought about world-changing transformation in 40-day periods, as well as the Christian season of Lent (which began yesterday with Ash Wednesday). Since its inception in College Station, Texas in 2004, at least five thousand babies have been spared abortion, more than 60 abortion workers have left their jobs, and 20 abortion sites have closed. It now involves Reno-Tahoe, Carson City, and more than 250 other locations in 6 countries.
