Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space to host Geocache Adventure this Saturday
Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunt with millions of caches hidden worldwide; in fact, there are hundreds of them hidden right here in Carson City. This Saturday, Feb. 29, join the Park Rangers on an interactive adventure searching for three caches hidden within Riverview Park.
After signing the log book in each cache, we will revisit them next Leap Day in 2024. The Rangers will discuss ways to geocache with minimal impact to natural areas as well as a brief introduction to the area. Whether you are a seasoned geocacher or a beginner, it’ll be a fun experience for everyone.
Meet at Riverview Park located at the East end of 5th Street on Saturday, Feb. 29. The adventure will start at 10 a.m. and is expected to last until noon. Come prepared for about three miles of walking on and off trail. Bring water, closed-toe shoes, and dress for the weather.
Dogs are welcome but must remain of a six foot leash during the activity and minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. You can register online at www.carson.org/ccpr or sign up in person at the event. For more information contact Park Ranger Tyler Kerver at tkerver@carson.org.
