ESL/GED/Citizenship for Life, Work, School
The ESL In-Home Program’s mission is to help non-English speaking residents in Northern Nevada to succeed by educating them to become more productive members in our communities. The only way to create a truly literate world is to include goals associated with underserved adults and the literacy programs that serve them. Therefore, we teach Adults – parents and grandparents of ESL school children.
In addition to teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), the ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada also teaches Computer Literacy, Workplace Communication, GED preparation and U.S. Citizenship study. These classes help hopefuls to learn the necessary topics to become more productive members in their community by learning our language and culture.
We could not do the incredible things we do without the great help of our passionate Community Volunteer Tutors who help people with a common agenda: to prosper and create a future for their children.
We invite you to join our program. Come to a free workshop and demonstration on how to teach ESL on Saturday, February 28 at 10:00am at Community Counseling Center, 205 So. Pratt (just south of 2nd Street, Carson 89701 (use parking lot back door). Instructional material is provided. Your commitment to become a tutor is 1-2 hours a week and you have a choice as to where to tutor: student’s or your home; public sites (i.e. library).
To reserve a seat, call 775-888-2021 or email eslinhomenv@aol.com. Check our website: www.eslinhome.org.
