A 34-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony grand larceny after attempting to steal more than $700 in merchandise from Walmart, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

On Friday, May 4 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a compliance check. Minor decoys will be sent into local businesses in Carson City that serve alcohol. The decoys will attempt to purchase alcohol using their real identification.

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club will show the original film, “True Grit,” on Friday and the modern version on June 1 as part of Carson City’s Big Read event.
