Mary Rose “Mosey” Vargas Covington passed away on April 2, 2018. Born in Auburn, California in November of 1942, Mosey grew up on a Sierra foothills ranch in Placer County and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960. She came to the eastern Sierra Nevada in 1965 where she taught two generations of children and raised her own family.

A 22-year-old woman was arrested early Monday morning for a felony fugitive from justice warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies are on scene of a reported robbery at Little Caesar's Pizza at the Carson Mall.

The robbery was reported to emergency dispatch shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Sheep have arrived in West Carson City for their annual Spring feeding near C Hill.

A large herd of the woolly, cleft-hoofed herbivores can be seen grazing on grasses and shrubs along the backside of C Hill behind the Green House Garden Center off Rhodes and South Curry streets.

The sheep are brought in annually to help reduce wildfire fuels.

A 49 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning in the 2100 block of East William Street for misdemeanor embezzlement, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

I’m sad. I just had an old birch tree removed.

After babying the sickly thing for years, I finally gave in and had it cut down.

The tree was here when we moved in 30 years ago and it didn’t look great then. It never really grew.

Why did it die? Bronze birch borers had infested the tree and it never recovered.
