UPDATE 2:13PM: The 17-year-old male considered a person of interest in connection to a homicide Monday night at a Dayton shopping center parking lot was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Reno near Hug High School.
Malik Avila, 17, was sought by Douglas and Lyon County authorities following the fatal shooting. DSCO Sgt. Bernadette Smith confirmed it was Avila who was taken into custody.

A 17-year-old male is wanted as a person of interest and remains at large in connection to a homicide that happened Monday night at a Dayton shopping center parking lot, authorities said.

The Western Nevada FC Coyotes will be holding a 48-hour 12th Man fundraising campaign starting Tuesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. Money raised during the campaign will help offset some of the costs the team incurs, especially on road trips. The club has set a goal for this fundraiser of $5,000 with 200 people joining at various levels within the 12th Man Club.

Yerania (Yette) De Luca, has been appointed as Work-based Learning Coordinator for the Carson City School District. In her position, De Luca will develop, implement, expand and maintain a formal system of work-based learning that promotes school-community partnerships.

UPDATE 10AM: One person is in custody, according to Lyon County Sheriff's Office spokesman Michael Carlson. Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigators are looking for a person of interest who remains at large.

A male victim died of multiple gunshot wounds Monday night and two are in custody following a shooting that happened outside of a Dayton shopping center parking lot, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

CARSON CITY — On Monday, Carson Tahoe Medical Group opened its newly renovated space and welcomed new oncologist, Dr. Mridula Vinjamuri, M.D. from Commonwealth Cancer Center.

A 43-year-old Dayton man was arrested early Sunday for suspicion of a third DUI, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Division of Forestry announced Monday that applications are now being accepted for the Community Forest and Open Space Program competitive grant funding. CFP provides funding for the acquisition of private forest lands for public use. Funds are provided by the U.S. Forest Service.

UPDATE 9:15PM: The suicidal subject returned to safety at ground level of the parking structure and made contact with Sheriff's deputies. Firefighter-paramedics were able to stand down.

Carson City Fire Department and Sheriff's deputies are on scene of the Ormsby House, where a suicidal subject is threatening to jump from the top of the parking garage, Carson City Emergency Dispatch has reported.

First responders are attempting to make contact with the subject. Care Flight has been contacted to stage in the area.

A 24 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 4:10 a.m. in the area of U.S. Highway 395 South and Topsy Lane on multiple misdemeanor offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including hit and run, first offense driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, failure to yield, no driver's license and driving without headlights.
