The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Carson City Library Board of Trustees.

The public is invited to attend the next Foster Parent Information Night Panel in Carson City scheduled for Tuesday, May 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Carson City Library, 900 North Roop Street.

A law enforcement sweep Thursday in Carson City led to more arrests as part of an investigation into Monday’s fatal shooting at a Dayton shopping center parking lot, Lyon County authorities announced Friday.

GENOA, Nev. — Join park rangers and local paranormal investigator Rosemary Osborn at Mormon Station State Historic Park for an evening of history with a paranormal twist. The evening will begin with a barbecue dinner provided by the park, while park rangers share a presentation highlighting the history of Mormon Station and the surrounding area.

There will be a lockdown drill this afternoon at Mark Twain Elementary beginning at 1:30 p.m., said Carson City School District spokesman Dan Davis. After the initial drill the students will then walk to the Boys and Girls Club. Phone calls will not be received during this time.

A 29-year-old Yerington man was found guilty by jury Thursday of first degree murder with use of a deadly weapon in the death of his wife, a rural mail carrier, the Lyon County District Attorney's Office announced.

A 27-year-old woman was arrested Thursday at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office administration building for suspicion of obstructing an officer, failure to appear in traffic court, driving on a suspended license and driving with suspended registration.

Riding a 9-game UPSL unbeaten streak, the Western Nevada FC Coyotes travel to San Jose, CA to take on Real San Jose this Saturday at 6:45 pm. A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday in the area of 8th and Curry streets for misdemeanor obstructing an officer and a Department of Alternative Sentencing violation.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture said it has withdrawn request for proposals for the transfer of ownership of more than 2,900 horses on the Virginia Range after not having received any proposals by the April 16 deadline.

1933 – 2018

Albert, aka Al, Scotty and Steve, by family and friends, passed away May 8, 2018. He was born April 23, 1933 to Scott and Vernie Stevens. He married Denise Cassel on March 31, 1956 in St. Mihiel, France. Al served in the Air Force as a Military Police Officer and retired from Southwest Gas Corporation after 29 years of service. Al set the example as a father, grandfather, dedicated husband and friend to everyone he met. Al really loved life and he will be missed.
