HOLIDAY HARMONIES
Don’t miss the “Holiday Harmonies” an offering of Christmas music presented by the Chorus of Comstock, a four part a cappella barbershop style chorus. This local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society was deemed “Plateau A Champion” at the spring NE Division Chorus contest. Under direction of B.J. Hill, bass for international quartet competition bronze medal winner “Special Feature”, the chorus will present an array of carols and songs of the season.
Headlining the show is “95 North” a new and exciting quartet that took the Barbershop Harmony’s Far Western District (FWD) by storm in the spring of 2010. In their first quartet competition after just five rehearsals, they scored high enough to easily earn a spot on the International contest stage and, after just seven months together, placed second at the FWD fall competition. This Nevada-based quartet — Jim (tenor), Larry (lead), and Nick (baritone) hail from Las Vegas and Mike (bass) lives in Reno — has over 80 years of combined barbershop experience and all have sung in numerous award-winning quartets. As luck would have it, these four men found themselves ready for a new quartet adventure in early 2010. Despite the distance between Las Vegas and Reno (which, by the way, happens to be connected by highway 95 North and, even more conveniently for Mike, numerous daily nonstop flights), they knew, after singing just a few chords together, they had something very special. 95 North loves to share their wonderful four-part harmony with audiences large and small. a new and exciting quartet that took the Barbershop Harmony’s Far Western District (FWD) by storm in the spring of 2010.
