The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company presents Gershwin's Tony-winning Broadway hit, “Crazy for You” at the Carson City Community Center beginning Friday and running weekends through May 19.

In this week's edition of It's Your City, host Cortney Bloomer sits down with Stephanie Arrigotti, director and producer of Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company to talk about the upcoming performance of the Tony Award-winning romantic comedy "Crazy for You" coming this May to Carson City.

Headed into Thursday, April 11, 2019 we welcome Carson City to another day where weather forecasters say there's a chance of rain and maybe even a few snow showers mixed in. Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

Christmas is getting closer, and in Carson City, that means holiday trains. From the V&T Railway's Polar Express to the Nevada State Railroad Museum's Santa Train, rails around the state capital are busy delivering Saint Nicholas to children and spreading Christmas cheer.

There are only two more Saturdays until Christmas, and Santa Claus is back in Carson City again this weekend ahead of the big holiday.

The Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall entertained a packed house Saturday afternoon for the first matinee performance of "Mary Poppins, Jr.," a youthful retelling of the classic P.L. Travers tale.

The Misfits Theater Group in Dayton is performing "The Arcane Lantern," a comical farce set in old Dayton at the turn of the 20th Century, directed by Cindy Pardini.

The Carson City Fair at Fuji Park offers a plethora of entertainment for all ages including tractor pulls, a carnival, and farm animals. Under the shade of the Mills Park cottonwoods, you’ll have all day to peruse the varied vehicles in the annual Run Whatcha Brung Car Show. The sun will come out tomorrow, but it’s the stars that are coming out tonight for the free Levitt Amp Concert at the Brewery Arts Center.

Anyone who was around in the late 1980s and early 1990s (or who watches the nostalgia channels on cable) remembers television's Golden Girls — Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia.

This first weekend of June packs quite a punch: activities and events abound. The assembly floor manager has retired and Mel hires Nicolas Srekcink to take his place not knowing he is a notorious thug. Nic infiltrates the factory in order to destroy it and ruin Melanie, as years before in school Mel would mke fun of Nic's homemade knickers. Nic vowed revenge and now is in a position to do just that!
