What's happening around Carson City on Sunday, Dec. 16
Christmas is getting closer, and in Carson City, that means holiday trains. From the V&T Railway's Polar Express to the Nevada State Railroad Museum's Santa Train, rails around the state capital are busy delivering Saint Nicholas to children and spreading Christmas cheer.
The Santa Train pulls into Wabuska Station at the NSRM for a second straight weekend. This is the last weekend for advance online ticket sales to board the train.

Here is what's happening around Carson City on Sunday, Dec. 16:
— Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride. Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Road in Carson City, in the south parking lot next to the Linear Ditch Trail. Ride will normally consist of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each. The ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but will usually be about a 12-16 mph pace. This is a "no drop" ride so no one is left behind. All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes. Contact Michael Bish at mrbish11@att.net or 775-291-2068, if you have questions.
— Holiday Craft Fair at the Carson Mall. The Carson Mall Craft Fair includes local crafts, toys, clothes, Santa and more! The Fair will run until Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Santa Claus and his elves will be joining the fair inside the Carson Mall for meet and greets and pictures on Saturdays and Sundays through December 23. "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr." takes a fantastical musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book, and featuring an unforgettable score by the composers of Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr. is one family-friendly blockbuster that audiences will find “Truly Scrumptious.” The Sunday matinee performance of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Jr." is at 2 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William St. in Carson City. Tickets are $12 General Admission and $10 Students and Seniors. For information, please contact Youth Theatre Carson City at info@youththeatrecarsoncity.com or visit youththeatrecarsoncity.com.
— Proscenium Player’s "A Christmas Chaos" at Carson City's BAC. 2 p.m. The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1976, continues their 40-year partnership with Proscenium Players, Inc. as they present "A Christmas Chaos." In this comedy, the Royal Shakespeare Company hasn’t arrived as promised to perform their rendition of "A Christmas Carol." So the intrepid band of hapless actors and technicians must put together their own production in only a few hours! They’re not quite up to the task, even though they give it their all. The play focuses on these marginally talented but dedicated thespians doing their best while chaos is all around them: two kids fighting over who gets to play Tiny Tim, a confused actor who thinks he’s in another show, a haughty lead actor, one actor playing both Bob and Mrs. Cratchit, a frantic director, thrown together props and costumes, ridiculous scenery, and tons of flubs and confusion. Directed by Jeff Basa and Cris Travieso. Sunday showing at 2 p.m. Advanced tickets are $13 for PPI and BAC members, $15 for Seniors and Students and $25 for general admission. Tickets are available for purchase at Breweryarts.org or in the Administration Office at 411 West King Street. For more info call the Brewery Arts Center office at 775-883-1976.

The Sunday show is at 2 p.m. at the Cargo Concert Hall at Whitney Peak Hotel in Reno.
— The Bridge Church in Carson City is showing three performances this weekend of an original production titled "A Case Against Christmas," Dec. 16 at 901 N. Stewart Street in Carson City. Sunday showing at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
