Senator Square: Academic achievement, scouting leadership put Carson senior in spotlight

Tyler has a GPA of 4.62 and has increasingly challenged himself with honors and/or AP classes every year, earning academic letters the past two years. He is currently taking four AP classes in his senior year. Talented and well-rounded, Tyler has been in Chamber Choir since freshman year. He has also been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years and Link Crew for two years. To further develop his leadership ability, Tyler has been involved in Boy Scouts since middle school.

Street Vibrations fall motorcycle rally rolls through Northern Nevada's weather changes
Submitted by editor on Sat, 09/27/2014 - 3:49pmRain in the valleys and snow in the Sierra hasn’t stopped the thousands of motorcycle riders from cruising through Northern Nevada this weekend for the Fall rally of Street Vibrations.
With stops in Carson City, Reno, Lake Tahoe and Virginia City, riders decked out in ponchos and extra layers are making their way through the region, taking the long and short rides in poker runs, competitions, demonstrations and exhibitions.

Pooch Plunge to benefit CASI runs today at Carson City Aquatic Center
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 09/27/2014 - 10:03amJoin the Carson Animal Services Initiative, also known as CASI, at the Carson City Aquatic Center today, Saturday, Sept. 27, now through 4 p.m. for the Pooch Plunge. Bring your pooch to the outdoor pool for a fun time while helping CASI raise money for a new animal shelter. The Plunge is $10 for first dog, $5 for each additional dog. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Submitted by editor on Sat, 09/27/2014 - 9:37amJames Sorrentino, the 101-year-old veteran who was the victim of a home invasion in Carson City over Memorial Day weekend has died. Sorrentino's family told News 4 that the veteran passed away on Friday.
Weather Service: Snow in the Sierra and rain in Western Nevada through Sunday
