Senators take the win on the tennis court against the Panthers

The Carson High School Senators took on the North Valleys High School Panthers Tuesday at North Valleys. The Senators were looking to advance to 8-2 on the season and with the Panthers three guys short on the roster it was already looking good on the roster.

T- Minus Two Weeks Until Homecoming

It's almost that time of year again at Carson High School. That one week of school where everybody dresses like a fashion-less hippy, has wild date proposals and bonds the student body closer as a school. This of course would be the one and only Homecoming week.

This year's homecoming theme is "Around the World" and the date is set for October 14th-October 18th. It would appear that Homecoming is looking very promising thanks to the leadership of this year's Master of Ceremonies: Jared Hearn and Sarah Christl.

Carson Hosts Annual Senior Parent Night

Carson High School hosted the annual Senior Parent Night this week. The annual event is brought on thanks to the wonderful guidance counselors in the guidance department of Carson High School.

The purpose of the night is to better ensure parents that their senior child or children are on the right track to graduate high school and to better prepare the parents for the endeavors and expenses that come along with being a senior.

Costco donates mums for fall beautification of downtown Carson City

Costco General Manager Bob Tote generously donated 900 1-gallon multi-color mum plants to beautify the downtown and create a splash of color to the medians and other areas that could use a bit of color. Carson City Parks and Recreation was the recipient of this kind donation and will be planting the flowers this week for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Run for your life! Redrun 2 comes to Virginia City Oct. 11

Virginia City will once again be overrun by zombies when Redrun II: A Zombie Sequel returns Oct. 11. Six miles through some of the Comstock Lode's most haunted history, six obstacle complete with zombies and insanity, and six safe zones/ revive stations along the revised course will make this annual race even more ghoulish.

The race begins at 1pm, however you must check-in at least one hour prior.
The after party AKA Zombie Manifestival will begin at 5pm.

Ronald McDonald House scholarship program accepting applications from Northern Nevada students

RENO, Nev. (Sept 30, 2014) Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Nevada, a local non-profit that houses families of children in area hospitals, will open the application period for its RMHC U.S. Scholarship Program on Oct. 1, 2014. Graduating high school students from northern Nevada with a grade point average above 2.7 are encouraged to visit www.rmhc-reno.org to apply before the Jan. 20, 2015, deadline.

Bently Biofuels sells to Oregon company

Douglas County-based Bently Biofuels has sold to an Oregon-based company, in a deal announced Tuesday. SeQuential Pacific Biodiesel, which serves Oregon and Washington, closed on the deal with Bently Biofuels on Friday.

Biodiesel refers to a vegetable oil or animal fat-based diesel fuel meant to be used in standard diesel engines. The Bently Biofuels plant was constructed in 2005 to convert used cooking oil from local restaurants into biodiesel. Capacity for the plant was initially 400,000 gallons produced per year.

Carson City Classic Cinema Club features 'Carnival of Souls' showing

This 1962 independent thriller was inspired as the writer/producer/director stumbled upon the abandoned Saltair amusement park on the southern shore of the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The film borders on campy, but has developed a strong cult following in recent years.

Full Moon Hike Oct. 8 at Washoe Lake State Park

Take a moonlit walk while learning the history of Washoe Valley on Wednesday, Oct. 8. This is a one-mile round-trip hike to the gazebo on the Deadman’s Creek Trail. The hike is limited to 30 participants. Reservations are required.
