Carson City CrossFit is hosting a bootcamp for ladies only beginning Oct. 6, 2014. Achieve your fitness goals. We have designed a boot camp program for women of all levels of fitness, experience, and age. The program will empower you to do things you never thought possible while keeping you in your comfort zone.

Woman taken by Care Flight after two-vehicle crash on Highway 50 and Deer Run Road

A woman was flown by Care Flight this morning after a two-vehicle crash in the westbound lane of Highway 50 and Deer Run Road.

The crash was reported to the Nevada Highway Patrol at 7:38 am. Traffic was redirected around the accident scene with backup on the highway.

The injured woman was taken by ambulance to the airport where a Care Flight helicopter was taking her to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Forest Service: Small wildfire burning above Cascade Lake in Desolation Wilderness

A small wildfire visible from Highway 89 above Emerald Bay on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe was reported late this afternoon, September 24, 2014. The fire is burning above Cascade Lake in the Snow Lake area of the Desolation Wilderness and is approximately one-quarter to one-half an acre. It is not related to the King Fire burning west of Lake Tahoe near Pollock Pines.

UPDATE THURSDAY 9AM: A wildfire above Cascade Lake on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe reported late Wednesday afternoon continues to burn, and the size is now reported at 30 acres as of this morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service. The fire is burning in the Snow Lake area of the Desolation Wilderness near Emerald Bay. This wildfire is not related to the King Fire currently burning west of Lake Tahoe.

A Jimmy John's location in Carson City, one in Reno and two in Las Vegas were listed by the company as being among 216 restaurants that were affected in a security breach that happened over the summer.

This second annual Friends of Brooks Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 5 at Empire Ranch Golf Course in Carson City to honor Brooks Brolsma; his parents Allison and Owen Brolsma started the ‘Friends of Brooks Foundation’ in recognition of the need local families have when a loved one requires extensive medical treatment outside our immediate area. They appreciate the love and support shown them by friends, family, and local businesses, and have been raising money for Northern Nevadan families since.
