Carson City Leadership Institute graduates class of 2014 tonight
Submitted by editor on Fri, 06/27/2014 - 10:02amToday is the official graduation ceremony of the Carson City Leadership Institute Class of 2014. They’ve spent 8 months of intensive study learning about Carson City and have made new friends and business acquaintances.
Friday night at the Chamber’s annual meeting, which is sold out, the class will unveil its unique and historic class project that has the souls of some very historic figures, including our founder Abram Curry, dancing on their graves.
Women to Women with Rebecca Ortiz

She is the youngest woman ever to be interviewed on Women to Women, but it is the encompassing aspect of her senior high graduation project that brought her into local and statewide attention.
May Nevada gaming earnings climbs to 8.1 percent, down 2.7 percent for Carson City area

Sheriff's deputies will enforce a lock-down (forced eviction) on 84 year old decorated Korean War Veteran, Rick Ostler early Friday, June 27.
Although Ostler has his rent paid through July 31, the Terrace Apartment management, where Ostler lives on Fifth Street in Carson City, has filed criminal misdemeanor assault charges against Ostler. To counter the allegation, Ostler submitted to and passed a lie detector test, proving, he says, contrived charges by Terrace Apt. personnel.
Convict who escaped Carson City prison camp seen in Genoa
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 06/26/2014 - 5:26pmA man who escaped the Nevada Department of Corrections Stewart Conservation Camp in Carson City on Tuesday night was seen Wednesday at a bar in Genoa, prompting the Douglas County Sheriff's Office to do a reverse 911 call to residents advising them of the situation.
WNC Baseball Team Continues Academic Success

Western Nevada College in Carson City once again made the National Junior College Athletic Association’s list of All-Academic Teams for the 2013-14 school year.
Wildcats coach D.J. Whittemore said that players learn before they arrive at WNC that their academic success is more important than what they accomplish on the diamond.
WNC Softball tops SWAC academic honors; Ashbaugh, Gonzalez earn individual awards

WNC led three Scenic West Athletic Conference softball teams, making the grade for the 2013-14 National Junior College Athletic Association’s All-Academic Teams announced on Tuesday.
