What Works: Beating the post-vacation blues

Some used the opportunity for a three-day weekend to go get a little R&R in: go to the beach, take a break, spend time with friends and family, and unwind. It’s what happens on Tuesday, after we come back to the reality of our lives, businesses, ups and downs, that can be confusing — the post-vacation blues.
Carson City's 21st annual Taste of Downtown tickets go on sale

More than 40 restaurants and nine bands are participating in this signature event that spans 13 blocks and is the major fundraiser for Advocates to End Domestic Violence. Tasting begins at 5:30 p.m. and continuing until 9 p.m. Live bands will be located throughout downtown with music playing until midnight.
Red Flag Warning Issued; Firefighters Prepare
Submitted by editor on Mon, 06/02/2014 - 6:08amThe National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for Monday. That warning indicates a high fire danger on the western Nevada Sierra front, including Carson City.
An upper level disturbance will move across the region today. This will bring isolated thunderstorms this afternoon initially along the Sierra Front and far northwest Nevada with activity moving quickly to the east across the basin and range during the evening. Some of these thunderstorms may produce dry lightning.

Mile High Jazz Band evening of big band, poetry with 'Hide and Seek'

The event will be on Tuesday, June 10, 7:30-9:30 p.m., at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. Admission is $5 general and free for age 18 and under.
