Carson City Sheriff's Office investigates body of man found along Silver Saddle Ranch Road

UPDATE: Family, friends and colleagues have confirmed that the man who was found dead Wednesday night on a trail along Silver Saddle Road in Carson City is Bob Huston. He was a father, friend and accountant with Bullis and Company CPAs.

Law enforcement run ends in Carson City with ceremony Thursday at the Nevada State Capitol

The final stretch of a relay run among Nevada law enforcement officers that began in Las Vegas ended Wednesday in the state capital of Carson City, with a ceremony that will culminate Thursday noon at the Nevada capitol grounds.

The conclusion of the 400-plus mile run is part of the events surrounding the 17th annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Ceremony. The service will honor the 126 Nevada peace officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

Free Friday family film night featured at Brewery Arts Center

East Fork Fire District Celebrates Promotion of Six to Firefighter/Paramedic

East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts recently announced the promotion of six firefighters to firefighter/paramedic. The six firefighters attended paramedic school through REMSA/UNR in groups of two while still working as firefighters with East Fork over the last three years.

All six of the firefighters: Jeff Cates, Matt Smith, Roby Safford, Clayton Peterson, Steve Koontz and Zac Pedersen graduated with a GPA of 3.6 or greater from the year-long program.

Two charged with selling counterfeit drugs to Carson City cancer center

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Two officials in charge of a suburban pharmaceutical company were charged Wednesday with selling more than $17 million in counterfeit or unapproved drugs, including cancer drugs and birth control.

Two women arrested after early morning vehicle chase with Carson City sheriff's deputies

Two women were arrested early Wednesday morning after leading Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies on a vehicle chase that ended off road near the water tower off of Koontz Lane.

Amber Wolfe, 22, was arrested at 1:59 a.m. and faces felony charges of eluding and being in violation of probation conditions. She also faces lesser charges of reckless driving and operating a vehicle with expired registration. The Winnemucca woman is being held without bail on the probation violation charge and $20,000 bail on the eluding charge.

Carson City man jailed after allegedly threatening to kill ex-girlfriend with gun

A Carson City man was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend and threatened to kill himself and her with a semi-automatic handgun.

Jorge Alberto Garcia-Austria, 34, was arrested following the alleged incident that happened Monday in the woman's Koontz Lane home. He is is being held on $23,137 bail.
