Members of Teach Anti-Bullying, Inc. will discuss what many say is a national crisis affecting communities across the country. The Saturday, May 10 presentation, Bullying: The Silent Threat, will be presented from 10 a.m. to noon at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 West King Street, in Carson City.
Public Invited to Mark Earth Day With Painting Party at The Greenhouse, Saturday
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 04/25/2014 - 2:43pmEveryone is invited to bring their inner artist to The Greenhouse Project in Carson City, Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to paint the nearly 70 above-ground planter boxes.
Come enjoy refreshments, being creative and loving the earth. Folks are also invited to tour The Greenhouse while on site. Paints and brushes will be provided, or for those with a favorite brush or color, feel feel to take them.
Bring a pad or towel to sit on, friends and family, and get ready to leave some art behind. All levels of talent are welcome and encouraged.
Board of Regents appoints Burton as interim WNC president

Burton has served as the acting president since December 2013. He replaced Carol Lucey who resigned last year.
Carson City scavenger hunt celebrates historic Nevada preservation and archaeology

To kick off the celebration, there will be a monthlong Historic Resources Commission Scavenger Hunt in Carson City and other events around northern Nevada.
Organizations and agencies have maintained a long tradition to promote history and spread awareness of archaeological and historic preservation efforts throughout the state, encouraging both residents and visitors to explore and learn about Nevada’s significant archaeological and historical treasures.
Carson City restaurant and food inspection report through April 24

Inspections through April 24, 2014 include convenience stores, a retail grocery store; Produce, deli, meat, seafood and bakery departments of a supermarket; a bakery, a butcher, a food truck caterer, bars and lounges, restaurants and fast food restaurants.
Of the 25 inspections in this report, 13 scored 100 points for a Grade AA.

Carson City sheriff's SET team arrest man in Tri-Net heroin bust
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 04/25/2014 - 10:34amA 31-year-old Carson City man was one of three arrested Wednesday, in the 300 block of East William Street by Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team officers in a heroin sting operation with the Tri-Net Narcotics Task Force.
Kenneth Jay Case faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. Two others were arrested. The reports were not immediately available.
