Wildcats to Play First Alumni Baseball Game on Sept. 7

Coach D.J. Whittemore has scheduled the first Wildcat Alumni Game for 11 a.m. Sept. 7 at John L. Harvey Field in Carson City. Fans are invited to watch the nine-inning game for free.
Seven players from WNC’s three National Junior College Athletic Association World Series teams have agreed to participate in the matchup and, so far, Wildcats from seven of Whittemore’s eight previous clubs will participate.

Possible human remains found in Storey County septic tank

Sept. 4 consumer session in Carson City for proposed NV Energy rate hikes
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 08/27/2013 - 4:19pmA consumer session is set for Wednesday, Sept. 4, in Carson City to hear public comment regarding NV Energy’s application to the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada that would, if approved, hike Northern Nevada customer monthly service charges and rates by 1.8 percent for electric and 11.08 percent for gas.
NV Energy has filed an application with the commission to adjust general rates charged to all classes of electric and gas customers, according to a news release.
Carson Tahoe prepares for 'Hazardous' air quality
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 08/27/2013 - 3:54pmCARSON CITY — Currently, Carson Tahoe Health has experienced only a slight increase in patient volumes due to respiratory concerns linked to the “Hazardous” air quality caused by the Rim Fire.
Carson Tahoe Health has taken steps to proactively prepare and protect patients within CTH facilities. Precautions include consolidating entrances at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center and Carson Tahoe Specialty Medical Center. These inpatient care areas have been equipped with air scrubbers and fans which have effectively maintained good air quality within the facilities.
