Police Investigate After Pyramid Lake Tribal Chairman dies

Pyramid Lake Tribal Police confirm Pyramid Lake Tribal Chairman, Wayne Burke, died early Sunday morning.
Police do not have many details at this time, but they that he died in Nixon. They don't have information on how he died at this time. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

'None of the Above!' political song and dance satire today at Brewery Arts Center

As Nevada Day weekend winds down, the election season continues to ramp up and in Carson City, there's plenty of room for song and dance. Robert Leonard Reid’s “None of the Above!” a satirical comedy revue that lampoons the 2012 presidential election continues today with a 2 p.m. performance by the Wild Horse Theater Company at the Brewery Arts Center.

Nevada Day festivities continue in Carson City through Sunday, today, with the RSVP Carnival and the Battle Born Celebration at Mills Park, a free symphony concert at the Legislative Mall and Halloween festivities.

Former Carson City doctor released from jail pending Arkansas murder trial

CONWAY, ARK. — A former Carson City emergency room doctor charged in a double murder will be allowed to leave jail — and the state — pending his trial in Arkansas after a judge agreed Friday that prosecutors failed to quickly take the case to trial.
Richard Conte, 62, will have to wear an electronic monitor and remain under house arrest at his mother’s home in Wisconsin, according to a ruling from Judge Charles E. Clawson Jr.

Carson City road report Oct. 29 through Nov. 4

Here is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report through November 4: On Monday, October 29, traffic control will be in effect between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on the following route to allow for the movement of an oversized load: Carson City Mills Park, William Street, US Highway 50, Arrowhead Drive, and Technology Way.

Roop Street between Hot Springs Road and Winnie Lane will be closed on Tuesday, October 30, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the striping of the street. There will also be intermittent delays throughout the week due in this area..
