Winners of Parks and Recreation awards announcedNevada Appeal Staff Report The Foundation for the Betterment of Carson City Parks and Recreation has announced the 2009 recipients of its Special Recognition Awards:Organization of the yearCarson City Area Chamber of Commerce, for supporting the Parks Department's Community Cleanup events. The Chamber's Quality of Life committee also initiated a mobile recreation van to bring recreation programs and homework assistance to disadvantaged youth. They have teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs to operate the program.Business of the YearFor volunteer time and engineering for the two Mexican Ditch Trail bridges, Cynthia C. Turiczek, Lumos & Associates, Inc. Turiczek was the point person for Lumos in assisting with the Mexican Ditch Trail bridges project. She spent over 100 hours for this project.Volunteer of the YearSusan J.
