The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will open its 37th season with a virtual community music and dance project celebrating Carson City history, the “Hank Monk Schottische” virtual performance project. Instrumental musicians and dancers of all ages are invited to participate.

Carson City is getting better at preserving its history after losing some of its most iconic structures to neglect and disuse. Think the V&T Roundhouse and Children’s Home, though there were many more historic structures that met the wrecking ball ultimately changing how Carson Street looks today.

Blue Line Tour Historic Carson City Westside

On Saturday, March 16, 10 to 11:30 a.m. there will be a special free public "Blue Line" walking tour of the historic Carson City Westside neighborhood.

The tour starts in the front courtyard of the Nevada State Museum on N. Carson Street. The length of the walk is 1.5 miles lasting about 90 minutes while covering Nevada and Carson City history and viewing numerous historic homes and buildings along the way.

Carson City Historical Society Celebrates 50 Years

CCHS Board members and volunteers celebrate 50th anniversary.

Following a Carson City Historical Society Board meeting on Feb. 11, Board members gathered for a little celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the CCHS.

The Nevada Landmarks Society (NLS) was founded on February 11, 1969, in order to preserve the Roberts House, the yellow Gothic Revival-style house at 1207 North Carson St., now known as the Foreman-Roberts House. The NLS later became the Carson City Historical Society.

The Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation is holding an open house at the Wungnema House Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.

The Wungnema House is located on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High School. It was built by a family of skilled Hopi stonemasons shortly after World War II and served as the family’s home until the early 1970s.
