Board of Supervisors to discuss homeless teens, park funding and more

The next meeting of the Board of Supervisors will be held Thursday, March 21, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the community center located at 851 E. William Street.

Items on the docket include runaway youths, the Ross Gold Park Playground Replacement and ADA Access Project among others.

Capital City Farm Days in Carson City to teach youth about Nevada agriculture

University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s 4-H presents Capital City Farm Days, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 11-12 at the Carson City Fairgrounds and Fuji Park Exhibit Hall, 601 Clear Creek Road in Carson City.

There will be about 30 presenters teaching elementary-age youth about Nevada agriculture, where food and fiber come from, and environmental issues related to agriculture.

Senator Square: First generation college graduate shares his story with CHS students

Sergio Trejo Jr., a Las Vegas native and first-generation college graduate, visited several Carson City schools recently to share his inspiring story about his admittance to medical school. Trejo presented to more than 150 students.

Many children in the Carson City area can benefit from the Seniors in Service Nevada's Foster Grandparent Program. Foster Grandparents are people 55 and over who enjoy spending time with children. “Grandmas” and “Grandpas” volunteer time in schools mentoring and tutoring children. Foster Grandparents become a part of the culture and fabric of the classroom and school.

Carson City Kiwanis was established in 1959 by a group of small business owners. Carson City arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of drugs, child endangerment

A 44 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night at 9:57 p.m. in the area of Reeves Street and N. Edmunds Drive for a host of alleged offenses, including two felonies, a gross misdemeanor and four misdemeanor violations, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Carson City Rainbow Girls to host Painting with a Pal March 23

The Nevada Off-Highway Vehicles Program, within the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, is excited to recognize Stan Harger of the Kokopelli ATV Club with its first-ever Trail Partner of the Year award.
