The Capital City Arts Initiative’s illustrated talk, Women Artists of the Great Basin, by Reno artist and author, Mary Lee Fulkerson, is now available online. The event is part of CCAI’s ongoing Nevada Neighbors speakers’ series; all future talks will be recorded and presented online.

Fair Maps ballot initiative the topic at Carson City Democratic tele-luncheon

Featured speaker at Monday's virtual Democratic luncheon will be League of Women Voters of Nevada President Sondra Cosgrove. She will share the new Fair Maps Nevada plan and circulate their ballot question petition.

Due to pandemic mitigation measures, Fair Maps Nevada won a court ruling extending the signature-gathering deadline for their redistricting reform ballot question to August 3rd.

Organizers are holding an ongoing rummage sale to raise funds for the Lighthouse Lodge, a re-entry program for Carson City women being released from incarceration.

The rummage sale, at 251 Jeanell Dr., suite 4, is open noon-5:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with a BBQ on Saturdays.

State of Nevada receives emergency management reaccreditation

Governor Steve Sisolak received notification from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program Commission that the State of Nevada has achieved reaccreditation. This achievement was approved through a rigorous and voluntary assessment process coordinated through the Department of Public Safety’s Division of Emergency Management, Homeland Security. The State was notified of the approval last week.

Error in Carson City COVID-19 test performance leaves local resident in limbo

After spending over a week in horrible pain, a local quad-county resident was finally able to secure a COVID-19 test. However, the situation became all that more complicated when the test was administered incorrectly by Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS).

CCHHS admitted to the error, and has rescheduled a second test to be performed today.
