Carson City Road Report for April 9-15

There will be work at the following locations as a result of the Freeway Landscaping Project. No closures are expected, but traffic control will be in effect.

  • College Parkway in the vicinity of the Freeway.
  • US Highway 50 in the vicinity of the Freeway.
  • Northgate Lane between Jumbo Court and Dyer Court.
  • Emerson Drive between Mark Way and College Parkway.
  • North Carson Street, in the vicinity of the freeway overpass.
  • Arrowhead Drive between N. Carson Street and Garnet Way.

Road Report for Oct. 24-30

Due to celebrations for Nevada Day, the following road closures are expected for Saturday, October 29:

· Carson Street between Winnie Lane and Stewart Street and Stewart Street from its southern end to Little Lane will be closed beginning at 6:30 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 3:00 p.m. following the completion of the Nevada Day parade.

· Side streets along Carson Street between William Street and Winnie Lane will be closed for parade staging in the morning.

· Curry Street will be closed between Robinson and Musser Streets from 6:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

Carson City man arrested for allegedly choking wife, DUI

Michael Mathew Cearley, 51, was arrested Tuesday evening near the intersection of F Street and Winnie Lane following a report that he choked his spouse.

Man arrested for breaking into Carson City apartment while drunk

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Miguel Angel Sous-Andalon, 23, after he allegedly broke into an apartment in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road early Sunday morning and refused to leave.

According to the arrest report, Sous-Andalon was in a "highly intoxicated state" when he broke into the apartment, laid down on the resident's sofa and refused to leave.

Two new restaurants moving into Carson Mall in July

July will be a very busy month at the Carson Mall in Carson City with two new restaurants moving in, two other businesses changing locations, along with a complete repainting of the exterior and an extension of the patio area by Paradise Cove Cafe.

Busy Bee Eatery will be moving from their current location on Winnie Lane to the mall in July, taking over the old deli space on the Carson Street side of the mall. The restaurant features Mexican, Italian and American food, and offers customers the option of dining in, or purchasing pre-made meals that can be prepared at home.

PARADE & STREET DANCE SATURDAY

America, and Carson City, loves a parade!!! You, and your entire family, won’t want to miss out on the PARADE OF CARS this Saturday at 6:30pm! The KARSON KRUZERS 27th Annual Run-What-Cha-Brung parade route starts at the Carson Mall parking lot and will head north on Carson Street to just past Winnie Lane. The cars will then return south on Carson Street to the Nugget parking lot located at the corner of Robinson and Carson Street.

Man faces additional charges in alleged fake check cashing scam

A Carson City man faces seven felony counts of commercial burglary and seven counts of uttering a forged instrument after being arrested for allegedly attempting to cash counterfeit checks at a casino on the account of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California.

Carson City deputies arrest man for warrants, providing false ID

Here is another possible example of where the coverup garners more trouble than the crime.

Deputies went looking for Joshua Stephens, 27, on Saturday night because of three outstanding misdemeanor warrants. According to the arrest report, they saw Stephens leave a residence in a green Honda and pulled him over at the corner of North Carson Street and Winnie Lane for using the wrong turn signal.

Carson City road report for Nov. 8-14

Road Report as of November 5, 2010. The following information applies to the period of November 8-14, 2010:

The Roop Street widening project is continuing and is expected to be completed by the end of 2010. The following impacts are expected this week:

  • Roop Street is closed from William Street to Stewart Street through the completion of the project.
  • William Street will have intermittent lane closures at Roop Street on Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for westbound traffic.

Carson City road report for Oct. 25 through Nevada Day

Monday morning's Carson City commute may bring with it some debris-dodging following Sunday's wind and rain storm. The Carson City Public Works Department will have no doubt worked throughout the night clearing the streets. Give 'em a wave for their efforts if you see them on the streets.

Carson City woman admits to stealing purse, spending money with friend on booze and smokes

An unemployed Carson City woman faces a felony grand larceny charge after admitting to stealing a woman's purse from a local casino, splitting the cash inside of it with a friend, and then buying alcohol and cigarettes.

Roseann Owens, 48, is being held on $10,000 bond at Carson City Jail. According to the arrest report, at about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, the woman was seen leaning on the glass doors at the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Musser Street. The woman appeared to be distressed and an officer asked her what was wrong.

Here is the weekly road construction report for the Carson City area, today through June 6:
The Carson City micropaving project continues at various locations. Work will occur daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the following locations over the course of the week, including Sunday, weather permitting.  A single lane will be maintained with flaggers:

— Koontz Lane from Hillview Drive to Center Drive, and from Carson Street to Curry Street.
— Winnie Lane from Ash Canyon Road to Mountain Street.
—  Ormsby Boulevard from King Street to 200 yards north of Washington Street.

CARSON CITY — The following information was provided by the Nevada Department of Transportation and applies to the period of May 24 - 30. NDOT will work to add a third northbound lane on US 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive.The following activity is expected for this project:

— Work continues with single lane closures on northbound US 395 between Jacks Valley Road and Lupin Drive between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Shoulder work will continue during the daytime hours with no impacts to traffic.

Arrest made in string of Carson City vehicle thefts; authorities investigate connection to stolen Toyota trucks

An unemployed Carson City man and a Gardnerville woman face multiple felony charges after they admitted to a string of stolen vehicle thefts and burglaries over the past few days.

Paul Allen Jennings, 39, of Carson City, and Shadine Ford, 24, of Gardnerville, face several felony charges after authorities found the pair hiding in the bushes after admitting they broke into a Carson City home. The pair also told authorities they had been involved in several vehicle burglary and break-ins over the past few days because, they said, they needed the money.
