Carson City massage and fitness center launches June 16 Boomers’ Bootcamp

Well Being Massage and Functional Fitness in Carson City will launch its next Boomers’ Bootcamp on June 16. The eight week summer program is designed for men and women ages 50 and up who look for a challenge and a plan to take their fitness to the next level.

Kids Pottery Classes, Ages 8 and older are being offered by Carson City Pottery. Parents and grandparents have been asking about kids classes ever since Carson City Pottery moved to 248 E Winnie Lane. They have heard your requests and are offering a clay class for kids ages 8 and up on Mondays from 4pm - 6pm, starting Monday, June 8 through Monday June 22, taught by South Lake Tahoe Artist Sarah Reesor.

Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed on felony possession of a controlled substance

A 57-year-old Carson City man, Jessie Archuleta, was arrested Saturday, 2:45 p.m. at Highway 50 and Centennial Drive on suspicion of felony possession of controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

Carson City area road report: Closures this week east of downtown for sealing project

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of May 11-17: Due to roadway sealing, there will be road closures throughout the entire week east of downtown in the general vicinity of William Street to the north, Saliman Road to the east, Fifth Street to the south, and Carson Street to the west, as well as along Deer Run Road and Pinon Hills Drive and the neighborhood directly west of Fremont Elementary School.

Kick off Bike Month with the 8th Annual Tour of Carson

Join Bike Habitat and Muscle Powered for the Eighth Annual Tour of Carson City bicycle ride this Sunday, May 3. Signups are at 9:00 AM, ride begins at 9:30 AM. The ride will begin and end at the Bike Habitat, and tour around the perimeter of Carson City for a moderately paced 27-30 mile bike ride.

This is a free event, and lunch will be served for the riders back at the shop after the ride. Donations and memberships are encouraged to support Muscle Powered of Carson City to promote a more bike friendly community.

Carson City sheriff's log: Stateline man accused of statutory sexual seduction, luring a child by computer

A 23-year-old Stateline man was booked Thursday into Carson City Jail on felony charges of suspicion statutory sexual seduction and luring a child by computer, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Jordan Frasier Schroeder, a Tramway Drive resident, was brought by Douglas County authorities to Carson City to face the charges, issued April 6, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $30,000.

McDonald's on North Carson Street closes; customers urged to go to Winnie location

The McDonald’s restaurant at the far end of North Carson Street was permanently closed Tuesday. Work crews brought down the signage Wednesday and inside work was being completed Thursday afternoon.
Employees have been given jobs at other locations between Carson City and Carson Valley.

Body found on Carson City hiking trail was inside sleeping bag

UPDATE 7:48PM: A mostly decomposed body inside of a sleeping bag was removed from a shallow two-foot grave on Lone Mountain, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. Details regarding the identity, gender and age are pending an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday. No other details are available at this time.

UPDATE 4:48PM: The body found by a hiker Tuesday morning off a hiking trail in the hills above Lone Mountain Cemetery has been removed and an autopsy will be performed Wednesday morning, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

'Train Like A Mudder' fitness program begins in Carson City

Well Being-Massage and Functional Fitness will kick off their new “Train Like A Mudder” program Saturday, March 14, in Carson City with classes beginning Monday.

The program, offered for six weeks or 12 weeks, is designed for those participating in the Tough Mudder event at Lake Tahoe, June 13-14, and features exercises that are designed to train for specific obstacles in the popular race.

Sheriff: Suspects in casino robbery remain at large, considered armed and dangerous

Two masked men who robbed a casino in the 300 block of East Winnie Lane in Carson City at around 9 p.m. Thursday night remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Two completely masked male suspects entered the Slotworld Cabaret casino where one of the men pointed a .22 caliber pistol at two casino employees. The robbery occurred while the employees were preparing to close the business for the evening, said Furlong.

UPDATE: An armed robbery was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday at Slotworld's Cabaret, 324 East Winnie Lane in Carson City. The robbery involved two adult male suspects, one with a skeleton mask and the other described as wearing a green jacket, according to Carson City dispatch.

Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed for failing to register as a sex offender

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 2:11 a.m. in the 400 block of Saliman Road on a misdemeanor charge, failure to register as a sex offender, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the apartment complex on Saliman after a reporting witness said a man who is a sex offender was living in an apartment and had not registered.

Carson City man jailed after domestic battery victim jumps from moving vehicle

A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday after a domestic dispute in which the victim said she was hit by the man and then to get away from him, jumped out of the moving vehicle he was driving, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Fifth suspect in Carson City area burglary ring arrested, admits breaking into 18 homes

A fifth arrest was made late Tuesday night in connection with a burglary ring that extended over three counties and involved several home invasions that began as far back as this summer, a Carson City sheriff’s lieutenant said.

Tracey Lock, 40, was booked into custody at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office on felony burglary and drug charges as part of the ongoing investigation involving Carson City, Washoe and Douglas county law enforcement agencies, said Lt. Brian Humphrey. His bail has been set at $100,000. Others are being sought for questioning.

Carson City Sheriff's Office seeks information on 2 robberies in less than 11 hours

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating two armed robberies that happened within 10 hours apart. These two robberies are not considered to be committed by the same person, but cannot be ruled out as of yet.
Monday late evening, at approximately 8:09 p.m., Carson City sheriff’s deputies responded to Adam and Eve, located at 3220 Highway 50 East for a reported armed robbery.

Crossroads Bar on East Winnie Lane burglarized with cleaning person inside

The Crossroads Bar at Winnie Lane was burglarized this morning, with the cleaning person inside the business at the time they broke in, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The burglary happened at around 6:30 a.m., and involved two men, each wearing dark clothing and ski masks. They made entry, possibly using tools, gaining access through the back of the business at 300 east Winnie Lane across from Lone Mountain. Some evidence has been recovered, according to officers on scene. The cleaning person was not injured.

Carson City Adam and Eve store robbed, suspect drew handgun

UPDATE: The following is from a Carson City Sheriff's Office news release issued early this morning. Deputies responded to Adam and Eve, located at 3220 Highway 50 E #1 for an armed robbery.

A single white male entered the store pointing a handgun at the customers and demanded money. The suspect was able to get an undisclosed amount of money from the store.

The suspect was described as five feet four inches to five feet eight inches tall with a stocky build. The suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, light colored pants, black gloves, black shoes, and a dark colored bandana over his face. The suspect pointed a black handgun at customers and employees during the robbery and fled on foot.

Sheriff's Office: Residential burglaries on the rise, criminals profiling homes

Since October of 2014 the Carson City area has seen an increase in residential burglaries. Several of them have been along the main corridors of the west side of Carson City on West Winnie Lane and Washington streets. They are occurring during the day time while the residents are away from the home.

Carson City sheriff’s log: Multiple felony and misdemeanor warrant arrests made

A 37-year-old Reno man was arrested Wednesday in the area of Winnie Lane and Carson Street on three felony charges including a warrant for burglary issued Oct. 8, 2013 out of Carson City Justice Court and a stolen vehicle bench warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City deputies make multiple DUI and drug related arrests over the weekend

A 26-year-old Stateline man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and other charges after a traffic stop in the 4000 block of South Curry Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, during a consensual stop at a parked car in a movie theater parking lot at 1:57 a.m., an officer asked the man, Daniel Louis Allen, for identification.
