Carson City detectives investigate overnight break-in at Subway off North Carson Street

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating a break-in that happened sometime overnight or early Tuesday morning at the Subway restaurant at the north end of Carson City.

At least two, possibly three people entered through the roof of the building at 100 West Winnie Lane, climbed down through a ventilation pipe, rummaged through the restaurant and took an undetermined amount of cash and other items, said Carson City Sheriff’s Office Lt. Brian Humphrey.

Carson City emergency crews called to crash involving 5 vehicles at Carson and Winnie

UPDATE 6:45PM: One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a crash involving five vehicles that happened just after 5 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Carson Street and Winnie Lane.
The crash involved a red Dodge Dakota, a blue Ford Mustang, a silver Honda, a red Jeep and a silver Mazda. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
It was originally reported as crash involving four vehicles.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called just after 5 p.m. Monday to a crash involving five vehicles in the area of Carson Street and Winnie Lane.

Traffic in the area is being diverted around the crash scene. Motorists can expect delays. Firefighters report at least two people have minor injuries, one caused from a seatbelt and another a person who had recent back surgery.

A 41-year-old Reno man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on felony possession of a controlled substance, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Playing with mud isn’t just for little kids. At Carson City Pottery, the fun of getting your hands dirty is for adults, too.

Robin McGregor, owner of Carson City Pottery with her husband, Rich, whimsically describes working with clay as feeling like a kid again.

“I love to feel the clay in my hands,” she said. “It gives me pleasure to throw.”

Just to be clear, “throwing” is the term used by pottery artists when shaping clay. It’s something Robin McGregor has been doing for 24 years since she first put clay in her hands.

Federal, state and Carson City agencies team up to find homes for homeless vets

A federal grant aimed at providing permanent places to live in Carson City for veterans who are homeless has been awarded to the Nevada Rural Housing Authority, officials with the Department of Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban Development announced Wednesday.
