Sandie La Nae will be the featured author Saturday, June 1 at Morley's Books located at 201 W. King Street in Carson City.

La Nae, author of 19 books, will be featuring her volume written about the historic building that Morley's Books is housed in, "Wells Fargo Office."

Other books Sandie will be selling of her historic volumes include Buckland Station, St. Charles Hotel, Genoa Bar, Alpine Hotel in Markleeville, and those from her "WEIRD" series about Carson City, Reno, and Virginia City.

An Italian Feed fundraiser for The Do Drop In day center at 1895 E Long Street and its parent organization, The Rural Center for Independent Living (RCIL), will be held at the Governor's Mansion's Nevada Room from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

Nevada Humanities celebrates the 27th season of Great Basin Young Chautauqua with the Great Basin Young Chautauqua Showcase. Performances by Great Basin Young Chautauquans will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 and Saturday, June 1, 2019, starting at 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Restless Artists Theatre, located at 295 20th Street in Sparks. We have activities throughout the region today, including a history presentation in Dayton, a Holocaust memorial service at the Governor's Mansion, art classes, live jazz and more. We want to send a big birthday "shoutout" to our outdoor editor emeritus Don Quilici, who turns 85 today. Truly a springtime to remember in Carson City as we say goodbye to April, which leaves us with a spontaneous final chill, and hello to Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Temperatures should head back up into the low 60s by afternoon. Looking ahead there's art showings and painting workshops, a C-Hill hike to see the firefighting sheep, a school district strategic planning meeting, a Salsa dance class, and "Ideas on Tap," a monthly series of interactive conversations at The Union Eatery and Taphouse.

The Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary, in one of its most popular fundraisers, will host its 6th annual V&T Wine, Cheese and Dessert Train from Carson City to Virginia City on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

The special event train leaves the Eastgate Depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. and arrives in Virginia City at approximately 11:30 a.m. The train arrives back in Carson City before 4:30 p.m. Tickets are pre-sold, and guests are asked to be at the Eastgate Depot by 9:30 a.m.

Zephyrus Brass Quintet will perform in the Expresso Yourself Café at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W King Street, Carson City, on Saturday, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. The live music is part of the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk, to be held that day from 1 to 5 p.m.

A 36-year-old transient man was arrested at the Carson City Aquatic Center after throwing rocks through the windows. He was arrested for failing to register as an ex-felon, destruction of city property, and disorderly conduct.

Deputies responded to the Aquatic Center Thursday just after 5 pm for a report of a man throwing rocks through the windows of the center.
