It’s time to shine at "Carson City’s Got Talent," a youth talent competition coming up Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Carson City Community Center.

Wild Horse Children’s Theater looking for actors, singers and dancers, ages 5 To 18, for our holiday production of "Elf, The Musical, Jr."

This show will be directed by Carol Scott, musically directed by Alan Catron, choreographed by Robin Kato, and produced by Pat Josten – the same team who brought you Disney’s Aladdin, Jr.

Throughout human history, mankind’s two most loyal four-legged companions have been the dog and the horse.

Rex Allen Jr. carries on the cowboy tradition this weekend in Minden, Nev. Fans have a rare opportunity to join the legend horseback on the trails his father, Rex Allen, made famous on the big screen. The concerts are also “bucket list” shows, since Rex Allen Jr. is on his farewell Sunrise to Sunset Tour.

Boy Scouts of America Troop 33, now in its 77th year, will host its 3rd annual “Send a Scout to Camp” Car and Truck Show Fundraiser on August 13 at Fuji Park in Carson City.

The weather may be cooler, but the chili is hot. Head to Glen Eagles for the final day of the Chili competition. Enjoy a picnic and a free concert in Genoa: the Sagebrush Rebellion performs at 5 p.m. If you’re dreaming of snow, then the lecture on legendary Tahoe winters might just get you through the day.

Compared to the last few weekends, Carson City is downright sleepy. That just makes it much easier to get around town and explore. SATURDAY:

We made it, Carson City. Friday has arrived and the weekend is moments away. The annual Chili Cook-off at Glen Eagles, the last few performances of Aladdin, Jr., and the all new Polynesian Festival are just about here. Tonight you’ll want to enjoy CV-41 at Living the Good Life: just the first of their outdoor summer shows. Local legend, Unkle Funkle, is hitting the stage at the Carson Nugget. Get your reggae fix at the Westside Pour House when Whiskey Lung starts jamming. Join Mike Thompson at the Plaza Hotel: the Roswell Incident is the subject of tonight’s lecture.

Sunday is the day before Independence Day, but Sparks is getting a jump on the festivities with their Star Spangled Sparks Celebration and fireworks. King’s Beach always celebrates early, so you can catch fireworks at the northeast end of Tahoe, as well. Keep reading: the weekend is in full swing.

World War II buffs are going to love the Wings of Freedom tour at the Minden Airport; you have until Sunday afternoon to see the planes. VIRGINIA CITY — Bonnie Matton, president and founder of the Wild Horse Preservation League in Dayton, will offer a presentation on the special needs and issues involving the wild horses who roam the Virginia/Flowery ranges at the Gold Hill Hotel Thursday Night Presentations on Thursday, June 16.

Jump on a Magic Carpet ride as Wild Horse Children’s Theater presents Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. at the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center. Performances are Friday and Saturday, July 1, 2, 8 & 9 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, July 2, 3, 9 & 10 at 2:00 p.m.

The Bureau of Land Management has pulled the plug on a public-private partnership in Nevada aimed at shrinking the size of a wild horse herd southeast of Carson City through the use of contraceptives.

An independent and assisted living community in Carson City will host a fundraising event Tuesday to support a Nevada woman's effort to bring awareness and support to wild horse adoption.

The event, dubbed "Along for the Ride" will be done in support of Samantha Szesciorka, who, for the second time since 2013, will ride across Nevada by horseback to advocate for wild horses.

Wild Horse Children's Theater wants YOU to take a magical journey to "A Whole New World" in our summer production of Disney's "Aladdin, Jr., at the Carson City Community Center. Auditions are open to those ages 5-18.

Auditions will be held Thursday, April 14 from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall at 511 W. King Street in Carson City. Performances are weekends July 1 - 10, 2016.
