End of an Era: Creator and founder of Downtown Carson City Santa Parade retires

For 20 years I have been bringing Christmas events to Downtown Carson City, beginning in 2000 when I had my retail store on Telegraph Square with Santa and his real reindeer. The Santa Parade was created in 2007 and was always the Saturday after the Silver and Snowflake festival originating at Telegraph Square to bring awareness to the existing businesses in the area.

Silver State Model T Ford Club to Hold Meeting

Optional no-host dinner precedes the meeting at 6:00 p.m. Anyone interested in Model T Ford cars or trucks is welcome to attend.

This club is organized to have fun, go on tours and help each other with our Model Ts. Spouses are also welcome.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada State Museum will host a Day of the Dead Celebration this weekend from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. As part of the event and celebration, Carson High School ceramics students from Ms. Alisa Kuniya’s class and third graders from Bordewich Bray Elementary School will exhibit Dia De Los Muertos masks and alters.

Mt. Rose Highway to temporarily close for westbound truck traffic Sept. 23 to Oct. 4

CARSON CITY — Beginning Sept. 23, single lane closures will be in place and commercial trucks will temporarily be prohibited from traveling westbound over the Mt. Rose Highway summit (State Route 431) as part of continuing Nevada Department of Transportation roadway improvements.

Pirate Pup Parade, viewing of 'Hook,' Wheeled Food and more Wednesday in Carson City

UPDATE: Due to weather concerns, the Pirate Pup Parade will be moved indoors outside of the Black Box Theater at the Brewery Arts Center. The film showing of "Hook" will be held in the BAC Performance Hall. Food Trucks will be outside in the parking lot.

Military convoy stops by Carson City’s Railroad Museum during cross country pilgrimage

On Thursday morning, a military convoy led by veterans and military enthusiasts stopped at the Nevada Railroad Museum in Carson City after having already driven 150 miles that morning.
