Firefighters continued fire suppression operations Sunday on the Poeville Fire burning on the east side of Peavine Mountain northwest of Reno.

Progress made on Monarch Fire east of Gardnerville; 70 percent contained, 2,330 acres

Sierra Front Team 1 and assigned units made good progress Saturday on the Monarch Fire burning in the Pine Nut Mountains east of Gardnerville, Nev. The Monarch Fire was reported at 12:41 p.m. on June 24, 2020, and is burning three miles south of Sierra Spirit Ranch in Douglas County.

Peavine Fire reignites forcing evacuations; no containment, fire burns 1,500 acres

UPDATE: The Poeville Fire is burning in grass and brush on the eastside of Peavine Mountain northwest of Reno, Nevada. At 9 p.m., the fire was estimated at 1,500 acres and zero percent contained. Local, state, county, and federal firefighters are on scene.

UPDATE 6:04 p.m.: 250 personnel from multiple agencies including the Carson City Fire Department are on scene battling the fire. The acreage is estimated at 650 acres.

Monarch Fire in Douglas County 5 percent contained, burning 2,500 acres caused by lightning strike

As of Friday morning, the Monarch Fire in Douglas County near Fish Springs and Pine Nut Road is covering a total of 2,500 acres.

Firefighters continue to battle Monarch Fire in Douglas, officials warn of flash flooding danger

UPDATE 3:39PM: The Monarch Fire is approximately 2,500 acres and currently 5 percent contained. No structures are immediately threatened at this time and the fire is believed to be lightning caused from the previous day. Responding agencies include East Fork, Central Lyon, North Lake Tahoe, North Lyon, Story County, Tahoe Douglas and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection Districts, Reno Fire Department, Bureau of Land Management, Nevada Division of Forestry and the U.S. Forest Service.

As of 9:45 a.m. Thursday morning, the fire in the Pine Nuts in Douglas County, which has been named the Monarch Fire, now covers a total of 1,794 acres.

Multiple agencies are on scene to try and control the fire which is thought to have been caused by a lightning strike during yesterday’s thunderstorm.

At 10:20 a.m. Friday morning Carson City firefighters and Truckee Meadow Firefighters were called to a structure fire at the Carson City Airport.

Brush fire reported near Franktown Road and Old 395

Carson City Firefighters and Truckee Meadows Firefighters were called to a reported brush fire in the area or Franktown Road and Old 395.

Both agencies are en route as of 7.26 p.m.

Motorists should avoid the area if possible.

Carson Educational Support Association gives 'thank you' shout out to local business supporters

The Carson Educational Support Association would like to thank the following businesses for sponsoring and donating to our educational support staff banquet. Although the banquet was canceled due to the Covid 19 pandemic, prizes have been given to the CESA members who won Classified of the Year.

Multiple fires burning near I-80 in Wadsworth area

UPDATE 5:10PM: The fires are 80 percent contained, and burned around 30 acres. A number of power poles were damaged, according to Truckee Meadows Fire. The cause is under investigation.
