Fourth of July boat inspections at Lake Tahoe

The Fourth of July holiday and fireworks celebration brings a welcomed influx of boaters to the Lake Tahoe Basin.

With sunny skies and warm temperatures predicted, boaters are urged to clean, drain, and dry their boats before arriving at Lake Tahoe inspection stations to avoid delays and decontamination fees. All stations close at 5:30 p.m., so please plan accordingly.

Weather Service issues Flood Watch for Carson City region due to arriving storm

Along with a High Wind Warning issued earlier, a moderate to strong atmospheric river will bring significant precipitation to the region prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Watch for Carson City, Carson Valley and much of Western Nevada.

Forest Service continues effort to eliminate invasive plant populations from Lake Tahoe Basin

Hello fellow anglers, we have one week to go to the California opening day of trout fishing season. On April 29, 2017 the lakes and steams in Inyo, Mono and Alpine counties will open for fishing. On a special note, the rivers leading into Lake Tahoe do not open until July 1, 2017.

South Lake Tahoe Police: Missing woman's body found in Truckee River

The body of 62-year-old Pamela Suwinsky was found in the Upper Truckee River in South Lake Tahoe on Sunday, about one-third mile north of Highway 50. Divers found her before noon but did not have positive identification until about 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Prescribed burning set to resume around Lake Tahoe

The California Tahoe Conservancy, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, California State Parks and the U.S. Forest Service are planning on continuing prescribed fire operations on Monday, March 27, depending on conditions.
