This Saturday we are super stoked for an indoor demo event by Team Suffix, @suffixporcupine. The skate demo, held at The WheelHouse at 291 Rhodes Street in Carson City, runs from 2-8 p.m. Saturday. It will be catered by Chipotle.

The WheelHouse loves working with the community and local businesses. Everyone is invited, all ages. There will be food for spectators and competitors, goodie bags, prizes and more!

Start the new year off with mindfulness and meditation classes beginning Jan. 30 in Carson City. This 5-week class will introduce attendees to the practice of sitting, walking, and eating meditation, and teach participants how to bring mindfulness to everyday life. Core Buddhist concepts will also be explored. Some classes will include mindful movement.

A to Zen has been a Carson City staple for the past decade. While they’re mostly known for their assortment of vintage finds, their large record and book collection, handmade gifts, costumes, and what may be the largest collection of knick-knacks in Carson City, they’ve also been engaging in community activities for years.

CARSON CITY — January is National Radon Action Month, and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Radon Education Program is offering free short-term radon test kits to Nevadans from Jan. 2 through Feb. 28. The event includes a chance for children to visit with Santa and have holiday refreshments while their parents shop. The Pantry is in need of gifts for ages infant to 18 years.

Home-bound Seniors: The Pantry also welcomes donations of gifts for seniors. They deliver baskets and gifts to 40 home-bound elders, and sing carols to them as well.

A 36 year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday evening at 7:51 p.m. in the 10 block of College Parkway on charges of felony child abuse/neglect resulting in substantial bodily and/or mental harm, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
