Slow Ride Ahead: Expect delays as peak holiday travel arrives in Sierra with winter storm

With Christmas Eve travelers going east and westbound over the Sierra along two major highways, a Winter Weather Advisory for Lake Tahoe and Winter Storm Warning along the west slope of the Sierra in California, it is almost a sure bet motorists will experience delays before reaching their final destinations.

The presenter, Scott Williams (PT, OCS) and FMS Level 2 certified is the owner and trainer at Synergy Therapeutics located in Truckee, California.
He will explain the FMS (Functional Movement Screen) body assessment system and how it can be used to influence and maximize your outcomes during your fitness journey. Scott earned his Masters in Physical Therapy from UC San Francisco in 1992.
Light snow possible around Carson City by Christmas, travel impacts likely over Sierra

Second motor vehicle accident on South Carson Street shuts down southbound lanes
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sat, 12/22/2018 - 4:45pmAnother two-vehicle accident on South Carson Street has shut down the No. 1 and 2 southbound travel lanes just south of Clearview Drive and across from Snyder Avenue.
This is the second motor vehicle accident on South Carson Street Saturday afternoon. One female patient is being transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Motorists should expect more traffic delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.
Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man charged with possession, sale of erectile dysfunction drugs

Fifth Street on multiple felony prescription drug offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including the transport and sale of them.
Single vehicle crash blocking eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 50 West
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Thu, 12/20/2018 - 8:45pmCarson City and Douglas County emergency crews are on scene of a single vehicle crash that occurred about three miles west of Spooner Junction up U.S. Highway 50 toward Lake Tahoe Thursday night.
The vehicle is reported to be blocking the No. 1 eastbound travel lane.
An ambulance is on scene. Extent of injuries is unknown.

Motor vehicle accident at Airport, U.S. Highway 50 blocking westbound lanes
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Wed, 12/19/2018 - 6:52pmA motor vehicle accident involving a grey sedan near the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Airport Road in East Carson City is currently blocking the westbound lanes of Highway 50 East.
The crash occurred shortly before 5:40 p.m. Wednesday night. One vehicle occupant was transported by ground ambulance to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Motorists can expect delays in the area and should seek an alternate route.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office offers rewards for public’s assistance in identifying suspects

The crimes are do not appear to be connected.

Carson City Ski Program is back for 6-12th graders, partners with Boreal Ski Resort

The program ended around 2012, due to a low enrollment brought on by the recession. But now, Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space has partnered with Boreal Ski Resort to bring the program back.
