It’s all under the umbrella of the Mile High Jazz Band, which offers a five-singer tribute to Count Basie Saturday night from 8 to 10 p.m. at the 3rd Street site.

Truck driver seen gambling confesses phony armed robbery story to Carson City authorities
Submitted by editor on Tue, 08/17/2010 - 12:04pmA truck driver who was seen gambling on Monday at a Carson City supermarket, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of falsely reporting a crime after he told police he was robbed of $1,300 at gunpoint by two black men.
The Phoenix, Ariz., man was arrested early this morning. His bail was set at $632. According to a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy arrest report, officers were dispatched Monday night to the 3000 block of North Carson street for a reported armed robbery at JM Furniture.
Man who called himself 'Jesus' faces assault and battery charges in Carson City
Submitted by editor on Mon, 07/26/2010 - 8:50amA 40-year-old California man who called himself "Jesus" before allegedly punching another man in the mouth and flashing a knife was arrested by Carson City authorities on Sunday.
Lary Robert Welch of Rio Dell, Calif., faces a felony assault charge and misdemeanor battery, obstruction and drunken pedestrian charges. Bail was set at $21,606.
According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area of Idaho Street and Sheffield Manor at about 9:30 p.m. after a report of a fight that involved a knife.

Michael W. Putz, 28, is being held at the Carson City Jail on $33,132 bond.
