A man who led Nevada Highway Patrol on a chase that began on U.S. 50 on Spooner Summit ended just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in a crash in downtown Carson City.

Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show set for April 28-29

The sixth annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will be held April 28-29, 2017 in the South Tahoe Middle School multipurpose room.

Space is being increased to allow more vendors from the region to participate in the only event of its type on the South Shore. A free children's planting area is also being added to the two day show that runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m on Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on Saturday.

Highway 50 between Carson City and Lake Tahoe now open; Highway 50 west of South Tahoe also opens

UPDATE 12:40AM: Road crews from California and Nevada announced late Tuesday that both sections of Highway 50 are open after rock and mud slides closed parts of the highway down last week. The latest is Highway 50 west of South Lake Tahoe which is now open, according to CalTrans. The road reopened at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday night, where it had been closed from Pollock Pines to Strawberry due to multiple mudslides.

NDOT moves quickly with flood-related road repair contracts

CARSON CITY, Nev. – In just the first days after several northwestern Nevada state roads were damaged by flooding, the Nevada Department of Transportation has let out emergency contracts and contractors are already being dispatched to repair erosion and other flood-related roadway damage. The repairs follow tours of the damage taken by Governor Sandoval and local officials both before and after the flood.

Lake Tahoe and Sierra take in impressive snow and rain totals

The Storm of 2017 is preparing to make its way out of the Lake Tahoe basin, but not before it deposits more snow on the ground as residents work on digging out their homes and cars from feet of snow. The National Weather Service says the storm is the biggest to hit the region in six years.

Carson City Commute for Jan. 5: Road controls in effect

Snowfall in the Carson City area overnight has resulted in road controls on highways throughout the county, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) reports.

Chains or snow tires are required on Interstate 580 in Carson City and Washoe County, particularly through Washoe Valley. Chains or snow tires are also required on U.S. Highway 50 East through Mound House and West up Spooner Summit, as well as U.S. Highway 395 South through the Carson Valley.
