One dead, one arrested in fatal morning crash that shut down Highway 50 near Lake Tahoe

UPDATE 10:54 AM: preliminary crash investigation shows the suspect vehicle crossed over the center lane line, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE 9:21AM: One person has been arrested and impairment is suspected in a fatal crash that happened Thursday morning near Round Hill at Lake Tahoe, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. One person died in the crash that happened at around 7 a.m. The crash involved two pickups, with one of the vehicles hauling a trailer. There is around 150 feet of debris scattered across the entirety of the highway. Highway 50 remains closed.

The Nevada Highway Patrol closed Highway 50 West Thursday morning due to a fatal vehicle crash near Round Hill in Douglas County at Lake Tahoe. Lanes are closed in both directions between Zephyr Cove and Elk Point. NHP says expect delays and avoid the area.
Nevada governor signs $5 tourist surcharge at Lake Tahoe in Douglas County

Steve Sisolak that establishes a $5 tourism fee on the per-night rate for rental lodgings in the Lake Tahoe, Stateline area of Douglas County. The new law takes effect July 1 and had bipartisan support at the conclusion of the Nevada State Legislature.

Road closures, travel restrictions on area roads Sunday morning

Travel restrictions are currently in place Sunday morning for Interstate 580 from about the Washoe County line through Washoe Valley to mile post 15.0 in Washoe County.
Chains or snow tires also required for Old U.S. Highway 395 Alternate from the Bowers Mansion interchange to the SR 431/341 junction in South Reno, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) said.
