First-day jitters are not just for students. The Carson City School District was pleased to announce the appointment of seven new principals and district administrators (alphabetically by school) for the 2020-2021 school year at its school board meeting Tuesday evening.

UPDATE: 8:21PM: According to East Fork Fire, growth from the Meadow Mine Fire has dropped significantly. Per the scanner, two-thirds of the fire has been contained and units will be released to their stations throughout the night.

With today's start of the Fall 2020 school year, Carson City School District officials note schools will run differently this time around due to the pandemic. Beginning Monday, Aug. 24, meals (breakfast and lunch together) for students in the Carson City School District will be available at all school sites for pick up from 9-11 a.m. Students may go to any school to get meals regardless of the school they attend.

I am fascinated with German bearded irises with their frills, color combinations and scent. I’m also interested in the changes that occur to the flowers after a number of years.
