Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 10/13/2019 - 6:51amCHS has many opportunities for students to become a part of something bigger than just themselves, not that making a name for oneself is a bad idea or anything, but it is up to the student to step on up, come on in, and check them out. There are so many clubs on campus; there are Interact Club meetings at lunch in CHS teacher Erin Been’s room every Thursday, and Been also advises the Represent Club.
Carson City Kiwanis Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day Recap

The results are over $9,000 raised toward pancreatic cancer funding and over $3,000 raised for local scholarships. Pretty amazing, right?

Hello from CHS in Carson City. I want to share this information with you so that you may be able to come and support our many students participating in Fall Sports. The list below has upcoming events for each sport in which our new Athletic Leadership Council is going to push out to their teams and friends to come support one another. In the spirit of unity, we want to reach out to both the staff and community to invite all of you to do the same.

Senator Square: Carson High School graduate addresses National Honor Society members

Costella was an active member of NHS, and this fact influenced his desire to attend college at Villanova University in Philadelphia, PA where he earned degrees in Political Science and English.
Casino Fandango Oktoberfest

Douglas County Businesses Receive 2019 Spotlight Awards

This year’s awards were given at the Critical Issues Conference held on Thursday, September 26, 2019. The Spotlight Awards recognized businesses in 7 different categories: Business and Professional Service, Entrepreneur, Manufacturing and Production, Restaurant, Retail, Sports and Recreation, and Tourism and Hospitality.

QB Solano leads Nevada to decisive road win over UTEP

Fifth-year senior Cristian Solano made his first start since Oct. 6, 2018 against Fresno State. He broke his throwing hand in training camp, requiring surgery and allowing redshirt freshman Carson Strong to start the first three games of the season.

Leadership students led the assembly with the first activity being the introduction of the Homecoming King and Queen candidates who made their grand entrance onto the floor.

Chambered for Charity Sporting Clays Event in Carson City set for Sept. 21

Chambered for Charity was formed by the women of two local Reno companies, Legacy Sports International and Reno Cerakote. Their mission is “to enhance the lives of others through charitable donations while promoting the safe, responsible use of firearms.”

Carson High School will again open its doors a little wider and longer for the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Night like no other Sept. 9. Open House, Open Hearts is a community event focused on building bridges to local services for teens and their families, increasing parent and guardian engagement at CHS, and celebrating the community, creativity, and diverse talents of Carson City.
Sierra Lutheran Falcons start regular season strong

Sierra Lutheran’s JV volleyball team won its first non-conference matchup against Mineral County on Friday. The Hawks won both sets 25-18 and 25-20.
Dayton High cancels football season; some players transfer to Carson

Carson Rifle and Pistol Club Hosts Rifle Match, Saturday, Sept. 7

The matches will consist of a "Mini Palma" (a 100 yard match suitable for most .22 rifles) and a Vintage Military Rifle Match. The Vintage Rifle match is 100 yard rifle match for military rifles in service prior to the AR15. More details and rules can be found on the club's website here.
Addictive pickleball continues to grow in Carson City

She wants to let everyone know that pickleball is a serious game and can help in relieving all sorts health problems including reversing or slowing bone density issues, according to her medical doctor.
Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest welcomes new Carson District Ranger

In his new position, Zumstein will provide oversight of the staff and resources needed to manage over 400,000 acres of National Forest System lands in the eastern Sierra region of northeastern Nevada and eastern California.
